Organized in 1973, named the Summer Theatre '76, the organization has provided an outlet for community members to display their talents in quality live theatre with an amazing array of productions.
In October of 1979 the name of the group was changed to Jacksonville Theatre Guild. The group staged productions at Nichols Park's McGee-Spaulding Pavalion, the Veteran's Kitchen and dining room at the Jacksonville Developmental Center and since 1980 have been peforming at the Sophie Leschin Building.
In 1999, the JTG acquired its current Theate Business Office at 210 West College. Small theatrical presentations are performed at the theatre office.
JTG serves as a showcase for community talent and as major theatrical resource for West Central Illinois.
